Science in service of sound.
Acoustics are measurable. Sound is experienced.
I help people understand sound, solve acoustic problems, and create better environments through consulting, practical tools, teaching, measurement, modelling, and design.
Interesting problems welcome.
Acoustic consulting for spaces, systems, products, and the people responsible for what they become.

Jim DeGrandis
Acoustician · Recording Engineer · Inventor · Educator
My work spans acoustics, recording, product development, technical education, and computational design. I have actually worked inside these different environments — recording in studios, teaching in schools, performing in venues, and collaborating with architects and builders.
Science provides the tools. Experience provides context. Listening tells us whether we got it right.

For people who care about how things sound.
Consulting, tools, learning, research, and unusual problems are all welcome starting points.
